If you use Karbon for your practice management, you can now monitor Aider Period Close Checklists directly in the corresponding Karbon Work items.
Currently you will be able to see a summary of the checklist, including:
- Checklist status
- Percentage of alerts reviewed or fixed
- Number of outstanding alerts, including a breakdown by alert categories
- Checklist details exported to Karbon as Excel and/or Word files
- A link to the corresponding Aider checklist if you need to review and/or fix alerts.

Set up
Once you map the Aider checklist types to a Karbon repeating Work series, all Work items in the series will automatically track the progress of the corresponding Aider checklist.
- Connect Aider and Karbon
- Copy the Karbon API Key text from
Karbon > Settings > Connected Apps > Aider Period Close & Advisory Assistant - Paste into the Karbon API Key field in
Aider > Account Settings > 3rd Party Integration > Karbon - Then click "Connect"

- Map clients in Aider to clients in Karbon
On the Aider's 3rd Party Integration page, ensure your activated clients are matched to the correct Karbon clients. - Optional - adding Aider as a Task in your Work item's Tasks tab
If you don't add Aider as a Task, you can still find checklist summaries as Notes in the Timeline tab, and the checklist file exports in the Documents tab.
- Go to the Karbon Work item's Tasks tab
- At the bottom, use the Add Step > Integration button to add "Aider Period Close Checklist" task.
- Move the task to the order you want
- TIP: Add the Aider Task to either your Karbon Work Templates and/or repeating Work series to automate this step for future Work items.
- Map the client's Period Close checklist to a Karbon Work item
- In Aider, to the client's Period Close checklist.
- Map a period from each period type to the correct Karbon Work item.
Choose the correct Work item by name and start date.
E.g. a checklist for June 2025 may be mapped to "Monthly Accounting" with a start date of July 1, 2025.
If you have set up the Work item as a repeating series, then Aider will automatically map other periods to the previous and future Work item in the series.
Period Close
For ongoing period close, simply...
- Find the Work item in Karbon as you normally would - e.g. in My Work, Assignments, or Work sections.
- Review the checklist status and summary.
- Use "Go to Aider Checklist" link to drill down to the details and fix or review any alerts.
- In Aider, click the "Start Period" button. This will update the status and summary in Karbon to "in progress".
- If you do any work in the Aider Checklist - e.g. fix alerts or mark them as reviewed, you can:
- Update the summary in Karbon by clicking the "Sync Status" button on the Aider Checklist's status line.
- Export the checklist data as Excel spreadsheet to Karbon.
- Once you are done reviewing and fixing all alert, click the "Close Period" button. This will update the checklist status and summary in Karbon. It will also automatically export the comprehensive Word version of the checklist - including comments - to Karbon to evidence the work you have done.
